Description

PBF-LB/M is a well-established manufacturing process for high-performance metal components, but achieving tight dimensional tolerances remains challenging. Thermo-mechanical finite element simulations offer a means to predict and compensate for process-induced distortion. We present a simulation approach based on advanced constitutive modelling that does not require geometry-specific model calibration. The method is validated using cantilever reference specimens and subsequently applied to more complex components. The results demonstrate the potential of simulation-based distortion compensation for "first-time-right" additive manufacturing.
