Description

We demonstrate laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) for fabricating ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) components. A microwave resonator for an electron Paul trap required post-processing to reduce surface roughness and achieve suitable quality factors; its morphology and composition were analyzed by SEM, EDX, and profilometry. A calcium evaporation oven was evaluated for thermal performance and vacuum outgassing. Results highlight the potential of LPBF for rapid prototyping of UHV devices.
